Gifted Students with Learning Disabilities: What Does the Research Say?

Abstract

A summary of the data-based and nondata-based literature in the area of gifted students with learning disabilities is provided. The majorconclusion is that the literature in the area ofgifted students with learning disabilities is presently unable to provide empirically based guidelines for identifying and serving children who are both gifted and learning disabled. Several key problems in the area of gifted students with learning disabilities are discussed including: identification, characteristics, and intervention.
